A special opportunity to discover Marc Chagall through an unusual lens: the mosaic.

Guided tours of the exhibition Marc Chagall in mosaic. Dal progetto all'opera, set up at the MAR - Museo d'Arte della città di Ravenna (Ravenna Art Museum), take visitors inside the artist's poetic universe, where light, colour and dream are transformed into mosaic material.

The exhibition, inaugural event of the 9th Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic 2025, recounts the bond between Chagall and Ravenna, born in the 1950s when the artist was fascinated by Byzantine mosaics and began a creative dialogue with the mosaicists of Ravenna. A relationship that gave rise to extraordinary works such as Le Coq bleu, his first mosaic, and to a long season of collaborations with masters such as Lino Melano.

Accompanied by expert guides, participants will be able to admire sketches, gouaches and monumental works from international museums and collections, discovering the background to a still little-known chapter in Chagall's career and the evolution of contemporary mosaic.

An enthralling journey through art, technique and vision that unites the millenary tradition of Ravenna with the modernity of the 20th century.
